The following project is large in financial scope and complex in the degree of organization that is required to start it. The Foundation is currently in discussions with the Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi about the possibility of joint-funding arrangements. However, for reasons outlined below, time is of the essence.
In the Nawalparasi District, the reconstruction of an earthquake damaged school for 950 pupils. The estimated construction costs are of a scale that a partnership with the Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi is probably necessary. Because the architect-designs for the three buildings needing replacement are already prepared, a staged replacement involving one building at a time is likely. The anticipated cost per building in approximately US$170,000 with a total anticipated cost for all buildings in excess of US$500,000 or about US$530/pupil.
The need is extreme because the typical class size is 80 pupils who are taught in government-condemned, earthquake-damaged classrooms. WE ARE DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR DONORS to help us start the first school building.
